Today, with your local Fes guide, you’ll embark on a journey through time as the maze-like streets of Fes transport you into the past. Known as the "Mecca of the West" and the "Athens of Africa," Fes comprises three distinct districts. First is Ville Nouvelle, the modern section built during the French protectorate. Then, Fes-Jdid, or New Fes, which houses the Royal Palace and Jewish Quarter. Finally, Fes El Bali, a UNESCO World Heritage site founded in the 9th century, and home to the world’s oldest university, Al-Karaouine, established in 859 and still operational. Highlights of your Morocco Desert Tour day in Fes include visits to the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish Quarter, a pottery and tile complex, the historic Tanneries, and the Medina of Fes with its bustling souks (markets). Today, our Morocco Desert Tour adventure to the Sahara begins. Next, we’ll visit Ifrane National Park to see the lively monkeys residing in the Cedar Forest. A lunch break awaits in the Berber town of Midelt before we continue through a series of fortified villages and the lush Ziz Valley, known for its 283 varieties of palm trees. By late afternoon, we’ll arrive at your Kasbah hotel in Erfoud for a well-earned rest, preparing for the exciting desert experiences ahead on our Morocco Desert Tour.

We’ll then head to Todra Gorge, a narrow canyon with towering 300m (985ft) high cliffs. Here, you’ll have the chance to hike through this awe-inspiring landscape, surrounded by palm groves, fig trees, and grapevines. Continuing our Morocco Desert Tour, we’ll travel through Dades Valley, home to the famous rock formations known as Monkey Toes, providing even more natural wonders to marvel at on this unforgettable journey.

We'll also wander through the narrow, winding streets of the Medina, exploring its vibrant souks, where skilled artisans showcase their craft. End your day in Djamaa El Fna Square, a lively open-air theater filled with storytellers, performers, snake charmers, water sellers, and food carts, offering an unforgettable sensory experience of the city's rich culture and history. This is the perfect addition to your Morocco Desert Tour.
You’ll have the whole day to explore Marrakech at your leisure.
