Then we leave for Rabat and start exploring its main monuments including the Hassan Tower, Mohammed V Mausoleum, and Challah Kasbah.
If we didn´t get the chance to discover Rabat’s fascinating wonders on the previous day, we can do it in the morning before continuing towards Meknes, where we will stop to get a picture of the stunning Bab Mansour el-Aleuj (Gate of the Victorious Renegade) and visit the Granaries and Royal Stables where Moulay Ismail used to stock his 20 000 horses. Fes-Jdid or New Fes, domestic to the Royal Palace and Jewish Quarter. Today we will finally start our adventure to the desert. Through this long drive, we will pass through Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” due to its affinity to a Swiss Alpine resort to take some photos. We then head to Ifrane National Park to see the monkeys that live in this Cedar Forest. Lunch will be scheduled in the Berber town of Midelt before we continue driving through a series of fortified villages and Ziz Valley with its 283 different types of palm trees and finally getting to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, where your camel is awaiting you for a once in a lifetime 1-hour long trek while watching the sunset to spend a night under the stars in a luxury desert camp.
With an early morning to catch the fabulous sunrise, a tasty breakfast in the middle of the dunes, then a leisurely camel ride back to your car we leave to Todra Gorge, a narrow canyon with sheer stone cliffs 300m (985ft) high. Here you can enjoy a hike among these astonishing canyons, palm groves, fig trees, and grapes. Later, we will continue through Dades Valley where we will see the extraordinary rock formations known as Monkey Toes.
We depart for Marrakech, through Kelaa Magona, the Valley of the Roses. This valley gives birth to the Persian rose from which locals produce different cosmetic products like rosewater, soap, perfumes, and skin creams. Continuing to “Hollywood of Africa” Ouarzazate, home to the 17th century Kasbah of Touarirt, and several Hollywood-caliber movie studios. We then move to Ait Ben Haddou, a well-preserved Kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site to enjoy a 1-hour tour. Several films and tv-shows have been shot on this site, such as Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Jewel of the Nile (1985), Gladiator (2000), Alexander (2004), and Game of Thrones (2013). Finally, we cross the High Atlas Mountains by the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, with an altitude of 2260m (7417ft) is the highest pass in Morocco to reach Marrakech.
